Dear Reader

I want to share with you my journey as a photographer. I have continued for over 5 decades intending to, one day, publish them.

Over the years, my camera has taken me on countless adventures. In 1979, I traveled to Europe with a backpack and my camera. This was a wonderful opportunity to describe in pictures a small community near Goppingen, Germany.

In 1989, I traveled to Bangkok, Hong Kong, and China, where I shot 80 rolls of film to capture the excitement, culture, and beauty of these exotic places. One of the highlights of my trip was visiting the ancient capital of the Bai people, Dali, China, where I photographed the public market on a Monday morning. It was an amazing experience that I will never forget.

In the 1990s, I lived in Walnut Creek and San Francisco, and my camera became my constant companion. I was driven by the need to record the details of life that touch people's hearts. I continued to explore the world through my lens, seeking out scenes that might go unnoticed by the untrained eye.

One of the most memorable experiences I've had was when I took my son camping in Yosemite Valley in 2010. We hiked, visited museums, and drove to the Wawona Sequoia Grove, where we were both captivated by the expanse of the forest.

Experiences like this have changed not only my knowledge of the world around me but also, my perception. I view scenes not only as people, trees, mountains, water, and skies, but as the colors, textures, lines, and shapes that comprise them. With a camera in hand, I'm constantly inspired to explore new places and continue to look at the ones that have long been familiar to me. As an artist, my muse is the aspects of a landscape that often go unnoticed, and I portray the scene in ways that go beyond the realities of our eyesight.

I am currently based in New York, where I continue to take photos throughout New England. I believe that art touches each of us in different ways, and I hope my photographs inspire you to see the world in a new light.

Thank you for taking the time to read about my journey as a photographer. I hope that my passion for photography has inspired you to find your own way to connect with the world around you.

Sincerely,

Jeff
